A Polite Society

A Polite Society

Following a long winter, spring is here.  For those of you, perhaps women who are not looking at the thermometer, yes, perhaps those of you who take no interest in the change of seasons, this means nothing.  But for those of us it means freedom.

I don’t think most women look forward to showing the leg or bearing the bosoms, it just happens because it feels better than the bulky wear of winter.  For us guys, we notice things bounce more and certain things draw our eye to your midsections. Probably not unnatural.  Most healthy as men are attracted to the form of women.  In this case, the usual distractions are to be applauded as long as one’s speech isn’t dominated by, “She’s hot!” or so on.  A woman’s worth goes under the skin to the heart.  From there she is evaluated.

1 Peter says in a chapter 3 that Godly women are first to be known for their insides.  Which, praise God, we cannot choose how are bodies are formed.  So we have the challenge of prioritizing the reformation of our insides.  Mascara and eye shadow only do so much.  The longer we walk with Jesus, His true light shines out.  Don’t worry women.  You are all pretty and increasing beauty will continue to dawn forth as you are conformed to His image.

What of the change of seasons?  We men sit up and take notice of your feminine figures in ways we cannot help.  I would say if women are comfortable and feel safe wearing shorts and a t-shirt while jogging down my local avenue, we have succeeded.  We have fought long and hard to give you this freedom.  Do you realize the amount of legislation and societal norms plus fleshly restraints our great nation has instituted to provide the woman protection who wears a piece of clothing that could appear somewhat provocative?

I have never been to Iran.  Bed sheet coverings are not my thing.  God made the curves of women in a wonderful way.  From the curve of their neck to the subtly of their ankles, He claims master craftsmanship.  So what is our response?

Doesn’t God say a lot about self-control?  He mentions things as meditating on the good and perfect things.  We are to change our thinking away from the world’s.  In other words, put off lust!  Lust is the unhealthy perversion that draws our members to do sex acts in the dark in inordinate ways.  Lust is conceived and child sex trafficking could be the result.

We have a polite society, still.  As long as women can jog down my avenue without fear of rape, we have indeed won.  It is our responsibility to maintain.
