There Will Be A God
There Will Be A God
The next great event the Church will see
is the Rapture. Yes, I'm one of those
types of guys. But what to do with this
scripture?
Matthew 24:24 “For there shall arise false
Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch
that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Who is the elect here? I postulate He is referring to the ones reigning
with Him in the millennium.
How about this one?
1 John 2:18 “Little children, it is the last
time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many
antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”
The Antichrist? Shouldn’t we be looking for him? Awe!
He be here or there. No, again
God talks of a time very distant from now.
The spirit of the antichrist is already here. It works in the sons of disobedience leading
them in rebellion against God’s Holy Spirit.
No big whoop.
What about this one?
Matthew 24:16 “Then let them which
be in Judaea flee into the mountains:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down
to take any thing out of his house:18 Neither
let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.”
Are we to be watching a
temple so closely that we are to fear the manifestation of the evil one? No.
What about this one?
Revelations 14:6 “And I saw another angel fly in
the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them
that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and
people,”
Whoa! How do you square it with this one?
Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom
shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then
shall the end come.”
But wait.
What of the tribulation? What of
the beast? What of these questions we
have concerning the end times. Is it the
end?
It is time to stop wandering about that which
we can’t control. These times will play
themselves out. He writes these things
to our comfort that we be not distressed.
Worrying about conjecture puts everyone in a panic while the world laughs
at our little heads spinning with words they do not understand. A fictious accounting of events threatens our
peace.
I propose we are waiting for Christ’s return,
coming as He left. The Rapture will kick
off a series of events He has detailed in the Revelation. Until then, the Church will continue with Her
mission to seek and save the lost. Sound
boring? Yah, when we stop looking to the
mysteries of the Bible to fuel our fascinations, we can pay attention to those
needing a savior.
We are living in the current time. A lesser god will come. It is not for us to know specific times or
seasons. “Study to show thyself approved.” Certainly.
A ballpark knowledge of events is sufficient to base oneself and go forward. But also:
Ecclesiastes 12:12 “And further, by these, my son,
be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a
weariness of the flesh. “
Sometimes we need to get our nose out of
the pages and out to the streets.
