These are the bands that shaped me. Surprised?
It was an 80’s thing. I was young and full of hormones. Saved early on then turning away from Christ,
I was spiritual just not in the right way.
My antenna was up. I yearned for a spiritual encounter. I found that comfort in heavy metal bands
such as these. Their tantalizing dances
with evil intrigued me as their rhythms carried my soul away. Somewhere in their ministry, I could get lost
from the reality that threatened. See, I
was a misfit. With the Spirit inside, I
walked as a hypocrite. I didn’t fit in
with the church and I was scorned by the world.
Wretched aloneness, I felt abandoned.
These bands offered comfort in belonging. Rebellion against whatever loved me. A push back to, “Just leave me alone!” My dad suffered.
Were these bands satanic? Well, put it this way, they didn’t encourage
me to read the Bible. A good rule of
thumb with an influence is whether it draws one closer to their Maker. These men and their words did not. Eventually, I threw their influence away
finally declaring independence from the muse spirit who kept me captive. Only recently did I flush these once and for
all. My little ones dance about my house
in innocence. This type of music
whirling about their heads would only bruise their trust of Grandpa. They would see right through a lack of
integrity. Thus, only Godly music is here.
There are three classes of music. Fleshly, worldly, and satanically. Quite often they bleed together and build off
one another. Satanism may gain its root
power from the hearer’s depth in a fleshly understanding of me first. The
world and its sway are there to focus the person by peer pressure for
instance. It is right because everyone
else is doing it. Anonymity gives cloak
to works in darkness without proper conviction.
Jesus can shine His light into this addictive
syndrome. Grandpa and Grandma, do not
lose heart. I can testify of His glorious
power. Over one hundred entries into
this blog states the power of God to right a person’s mind. The staying power of God hovers over His
little ones given to an incessant cleaving to Him. Baptism quells the enemy as we declare
victory in identity. And this new
identity should have nothing to do with idols of blasphemy.
He is but a tolerant God. He will share His temple with our stone
objects of worship until we purge them with sickened vomiting. Only after the hangover, when He gently
awakens us, do we swear by Heaven above to not cross that boundary again.
He smiles.
He knows sanctification is not easy.
Like pulling blood suckers off our skin one by one. The wound is left. The Great Surgeon does this with sterility
knowing an infection could further threaten the rest of our being. God is a great God and He is a closer Father.
We used to hunt mushrooms as a
family. Neither my mother nor my sister
liked ticks. They were a necessary evil
if we were to get the prized morels.
Hence, each outing ended with an examination. Toe to hair on head looking for any that
latched on. Hopefully we caught them
before they sunk their head beneath our skins.
These bands are parasites. Money sucking and pumping resources from
masses so given to their experience.
Developers know this. It is a
virtual industry only permanent in its temporal existence like transients hiding under the
bridge asking for money. America
wants it. Sadly, we tolerate such but the second amendment guarantees
the freedom to lie. Even to lie about
One who loves us. We are free to satanism. We are free to lift up one in
destruction. And that’s ok.
I would have it no other way. Freedom means God’s good choices are
glorified. In the mix, His ways are proven
rightly. So, thank you dark bands. You are being used to show the brightness of
His promises. Satanism has a place in
God’s kingdom. Right before the end
under the footstool of Jesus the King.
