A Plumb Line
A Plumb Line
Amos 7:7 “Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a
plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.8 And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou?
And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the
midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:”
Leviticus 20:26 “And ye shall be holy unto me:
for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other
people, that ye should be mine.”
How true are the walls of the American church? Surely, we are ignorant Gentiles striving to
know our God of whom we have been recently introduced. The God of Israel had mileage behind Him when
dealing with them. Hence, His
commandments brought severity if broken.
Still today, Moses’ pen offers our Father’s mind towards such things.

Who defines
purity and perversity? If left to our
own, we rationalize all our inordinate desires.
John the Baptist got his head cut for preaching against Herod for taking
his brother Phillip’s wife. Will we
suffer persecution for holding up the plumb line to church or state?
