Why We Need A Sacrifice

Why We Need A Sacrifice

Genesis 9:5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

Genesis 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Matthew 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:

Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

Adam murdered all of Mankind when he rebelled in the garden.  He welcomed death.  Death became the terminator to end Man’s existence on earth.  No longer would Man exist forever here. After Adam, all would die to dust.

Like begets like.  Adam beget Cain.  Cain was a murderer like his father.  So the stain was passed down the generation.  Since we descended from Adam, we too are stained.  God sees us as murderers when we are conceived.  We are after all, created in the image of Adam.  Only after rebirth are we created in the image of God.

Adam learned a sacrifice had to be given that grace may enter this world.  God killed an animal to clothe him. So he learned, sacrifice was needed to cover his great guilt.

Cain’s offering was not enough.  The work of his hands would not save him.  Only blood of God’s provision would be the sin offering.  Abel had it right.  He could not bring about the propagation of lambs.  This was not his doing.  He only cared for them.  God gave the fertile increase.

The sacrificial lamb was understood.  Something had to die that they could live.  God set up the sacrificial system to point to His Son’s crucifixion.  Surely for a man’s life, God would require another.  Blood for blood.  The blood of a lamb could never take away this murderous sin.  A Man was to be given.

We, under Adam, are all murderers.  Like our father, our hand is against Man.  We share his stain.  No justification stands us against the judgement throne of God.  He has proven us murderers.  We killed God.  Both Jew and Gentile raised hands to kill Jesus.  This world we have created was proven hazardous to His holiness.

We need Jesus’ sacrifice.  Please Lord, take my place.  I am a murderer.  My blood is required of me.  Please be my sacrificial lamb.
