Her Own Woman

 

I respect her being

I do not touch that way

She belongs to another

And I am comfortable with that

 

The person she’s become

Commands an understanding

Seeing her today

Walking in her mother’s steps

Makes me happy

 

She is her own woman

As she submits to her head

With that light tether

She flies in freedom

 

How glad I am

To hand her off

To a blessed man

Who does not wreck her

 

Woman

Rise to conquer the land

I only dreamed of
