Israel's Processed Food
Israel’s
Processed Food
My wife brought up a good point this
morning because she is a highly intelligent person who likes to think about
stuff. Grabbing the Strong’s concordance
with her daily Bible study, she concluded that Israel was not just a hunter/
gather group of people. No, they
prepared the manna.
“Go out Joey! Fetch an omer! Bring it back and I’ll put it on the Barbie
(BBQ).” But then again, where’d they get
the wood? Anyway, back to the metaphor.
Jesus is our manna. He came down from Heaven. As a dove, He lit down on this place and
found dry ground for His feet. Noah
would have been happy to see what John saw.
In hope, he built the boat and sailed the seven seas all balled up into
one. Isn’t God great! Greater than even our imaginations. And that’s what it takes to digest the whole
manna bit. Never seen it. Coriander?
Never.
Any who, we got to dig deeper, that’s what
she said. Can’t just grab Him off the
shelf and lazily open our mouths and expect the Word of God to fall into
it. No, we have to wrestle with this
thing we call Jesus. “Draw near, persevere,
chew the cud! Wall it about for a bit.”
I used to like Dad’s jerky. Dry it in the oven and chew on it all
day. A kind of gum when the tendons
resist the salvatory glands. Chew, Chew.
Isarel women worked the manna. Made their men happy. I think we ought to work over Jesus
today. Get to know the Guy. He is to be praised!
