A Grandpa's Fear
A
Grandpa’s Fear
James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye
may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Deuteronomy 6
You know they are only
little. Bustling, brightly and going out
in all directions. Energy bound then
exploding. Running faster than and
into. Exploring the promised land, will
they regard the boundaries set forth by a providential God? We will see.
We will wait…on the edge of our seats.
Did we do enough? Did we make the long pass over the line to the
receiver? Will the grandchild generation
run with the ball? Fumbling is one thing
but to completely disregard it is another.
As a grandpa, I have led as Moses
from the house of bondage. Their grandma
and I were radically saved. We know the
torment and deliverance peace. Through
the Red Sea we walked triumphantly. The
enemy at our backs and overthrown. We
sought a future for our new family. Wandering
in the wilderness of learned trust, we found the world offered us nothing. Kicking over the Amorites, we tasted of victories
promised of a God who guaranteed if we continued to walk in His ways.
On the lookout from Mount Pisgah,
Grandma and I have not passed but continue to watch the fight and settlements
as advanced by the Joshuas (their parents, our children).
So, please pray. Not magic into our lives. Not God’s overwhelming hand of comfort to
sweep over us. Pray that you may answer
rightly if I come to you with a questioning mind. We are to confess our faults. This is one of mine. A weakness.
My hedge in this part is undergrown.
Please stand in a gap of unsurety and remind me of God’s faithfulness to
those who love Him and are called by His name.
