Decoupage
Decoupage
Revelation 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her,
my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her
plagues.”
Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
James 4:14 “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life?
It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then
vanisheth away.”
Romans 9:16 “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but
of God that sheweth mercy.”
Decoupage: This word is fashioned from
Middle French decouper, the prefix de- ("from" or "away") and couper ("to cut).
My wife uses
a rotary cutter. It is a small, sharp tool. Held in her hand, she rounds the edge of the
pattern and separates fabric from the keep and what is discarded. So sharp is this tool that great reverence is
given. Its blade is even drawn in to a
protective sheath when not in use.
What if God,
wanting to call His Church out of the Gentiles, uses a similar cutting Wheel? He wants to separate using the defining edge
of His Son. This tool, always to keep keen,
performs His work undaunted. The division
principle He uses to define His Church in the midst of world corrupted.
That is global,
the overall concept. But God is personal
working with everyone of us in transformation.
He prizes our accomplishments and puts them on display. He does not say we are His workmanship for nothing. In His immense attention spread abroad, His eye
is upon everyone of us. But we are as
paper. A fume when consumed by the fire
of this world. From dust and to dust we return.
In this brevity
we call life, He records and lifts up the images, the snapshots of His children
in their heroic acts of selflessness. In
decoupage, a protective layer is then lain over to preserve the composition. God is eternal. He teaches us to invest likewise. Somehow, in this temporal existence, our
actions are marked by God into a wonderful tapestry of most fragile
events. His eye is surely upon us and He
is pleased.
