What I Think Helps
What
I Think Helps
1. Invite Him as Savior and Lord
John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
I was ten-years-old when I answered the pastor’s
altar call. I rededicated my life when I
was twenty. When I was fifty, I asked
Him to be my Lord and my pastor washed my feet before the congregation.
2. Surround
yourself with other believers
2 Corinthians 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with
darkness?”
I don’t chum around with the disobedient. They are not in my trusted circle. I am cautious of the agreements I make with
them.
3. Follow
the Lord in baptism
John 1:33 “And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same
said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on
him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.”
Not only be publicly immersed in a believer’s
baptism, but be willing for God to supernaturally work in and through you. That includes all giftings and talents.
4. Obey
the laws of the land
Romans 13:4 (The king) “For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if
thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain:
for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth
evil.5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also
for conscience sake.”
If
you want to be protected by the law, abide in it. Be model citizens and bless the nation you
are assigned to.
5. Work
in a church
1
Timothy 1 – 3
Titus
2
Don’t
just attend. Get your hands dirty. Follow the leadership of the local church. Mature while serving others.
6. Enjoy
His presence
Genesis 5:23 “And all the days of Enoch
were three hundred sixty and five years:24 And
Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”
A subtle hint here to fellowship
with God all year. This is the great reason
to continue on. It’s not about an
accumulation of stuff that we place our desires upon. We have the opportunity to share with Him the
experiences of our days together. That
is life.
