Envoy
Envoy
2 Corinthians 5:18 “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to
himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;19 To wit, that God was
in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses
unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.20 Now then we are
ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in
Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.”
Isaiah 40:3 “The voice of him that crieth in
the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
He has entrusted us with the message of reconciliation. The Great King declares He will come back
again. He knows His Father’s wrath. The world is in severe want. Its sins He holds against her and requires
restitution she can only give by her blood.
The Father is intensely angry with every
soul here who denies His Son. Man has so
set his face against Him. God, in His holiness,
will not stand for insubordination which stains the race. He has sent His Church out into the land as
John the Baptist. Not willing that any should
perish, He sends Her to condition the hearts of men before the terrible day.
As an envoy of ambassadors, we do not announce
“peace! peace!” but repentance from
works of ill repute. Before the King
comes, backs are to be broken, knees are
to be bent , and stiff necks are
to carry His yoke. A
world twisted will be stretched straight.
We think of ambassadors in diplomacy like
a lame give-and-take of the U.S. in the Middle East, not wanting to ruffle any
feathers. This is not the picture He gives.
We tote the truth of our God who declares there will be an answering for
every man’s life before the throne. As
ambassadors, we warn of a coming judgment.
“ Be ye reconciled to Christ!” Wet lasagna noodles do not admonish. A withered hand does not point straightly to
the savior. With a shout, Jesus will come
back. Trumpets will announce His advance. We will be taken by surprise. The Church is to take the shock out of this event. Like the start of a race, the gun fires and
the runners know to jump forward. What
will happen if Jesus comes back and the world stands transfixed at the line? We as the Church are to ready them.
“Behold your God! This is Him whom we
preach.” Like with John, will they
recognize Him?
Throughout the Old Testament, God created
word pictures of His coming Son.
Prophecies abounded. Foreshadowing
in every book. The coming Messiah
shocked the Jews. Upon His arrival, the
gun sounded but they stood motionless at the line. Like dropped batons, that generation was an
embarrassment before Heavenly witnesses.
Presently, He calls His Church like a
cathedral. “Open your doors. Let the ones in to comprehend, seeing stain
glassed windows and sculptures.” In this
they understand Jesus and His anticipated return.
As an envoy, we serve as ambassadors. Not only for the sake of those here, but for
the heart of God. Holiness is coming like a fire. He does not delight in consuming
the dross.
