Spiritual Renewal

Spiritual Renewal

Deuteronomy 13:4 Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

Interesting that all of Deuteronomy chapter thirteen talks about the false prophet or ones trying to lead God’s chosen away from Him.  Of course, God’s commandment is to ‘Kill ‘em.  Kill ‘em all!”  Well, not quite like that but He is explicative.

If someone sneaks in and causes the division away or if someone within does the same, “Off with the head!”  Even if a family member.  Let you be the first to throw the stone.

We are as babes.  We are as sheep needing a shepherd.  We lack our own guidance so we hang off His Word.  God is a jealous God for the affection of His little ones.  A Father of fathers is He.  So, even in the twenty-first century, we hear Him calling from this chapter dating about 1450 B.C.

“Children, cleave to Me.”  He commanded Adam the same concerning his wife.  “Cleave.”

In a tool maker’s shop, with metal lathes and mills, specifications must be followed.  Often times down to a hundredth’s of an inch.  The cutting machines must be calibrated because they get “off” over time.  An inch must be an inch.  One standard I know is gauge blocks.  These highly polished metal pieces can be joined together to make a dimension.  Sandwiching the blocks together make the whole like 1.125”.  No dirt oil can come between them or the dimension is off.  In fact, once the blocks are slid together, they adhere to each other because of the surface attraction.  They cleave one to one another.  What a picture!

Spiritual renewal follows spiritual awakening.  Between these two lies obedience.  If we are shown, then we obey, afterwards we reap.  Failure to obey means we cleave to something else, not the Standard.  Obedience results in greater adhesion to the One who loves us.

Spiritual renewal follows introspection.  We must ask ourselves what contamination we have allowed.  We must thoroughly purge our threshing floor of dross leaving us only the pure seed.  This is work.  Listening to His voice requires training.  We cannot be tone deaf and expect His leading.  A Voice amongst voices, we must discern.  The false prophet calls us daily to entice us.

We must hear the Father’s heart here in this chapter.  Violent is He in His care for us.  As an eagle watches her nest.  Don’t fool with the talons!

Our greatest currency is time.  Wherever a man put his treasure, there his heart will be also.  What false prophet is calling you today?  Is it the car project in the shop?  Is it your show on T.V.?  Is it a book you just can’t put down?  Do friends consume you in relationship entanglements?”  While some may not be evil, do their involvements draw you closer to Him?

We can all continue praying during these times.  He seeks our sharing in whatever we do.

It is simple.  He is with us.  He loves our attention.
