Esoteric Modernism
Esoteric Modernism
Esoteric: requiring or exhibiting
knowledge that is restricted to a small group
Modernism: a break with the past and
the concurrent search for a new form of expression
Mavericks, so they are called. Somehow their bold charge of “onward!” sparks our interest and sucks in our surrendered identities. “Forget the past. The future is where it is at.” A half-truth alluring those frustrated with their ‘now’ condition.
A person is to know where they came
from. They are to embrace it, wrestle
with it, and be victorious. Pictures are
to hang on the “I remember wall.” ‘Remember
when’s’ are to bounce around the supper table.
Regrets are to be ruminated with a forbearance in taking that step
again. History is be upheld and set upon
the mantle as a spectacle glass for one to see the future. In other words, modernism in its totality has
no sense in this Biblical world.
A frontal lobotomy is most severe. Erasing a man’s past and reducing him to a
vegetable is not progress. God does not
call us to this. When He says reborn, He
does not mean erase. To go under the
water does not mean leaving the personality under the waves. He fully loves the whole person.
“But I want to be like Jesus.” Yes, as a hand in a glove. Jesus’ spirit is inside you. He chooses to interface with this world
through your likes and dislikes. Baskin
Robbin’s flavors of thirty-one means there is a whole lot of combinations our
Savior has to work with. God is a
complex God. He knits the quilt together. Patches to colorful fabrics in array, He
tells the story of ‘you’ upon a spread of endearment. He loves you, all of you.
When I came back to God, it was
scary. Not for me but for my
friend. My personality hit tilt as my
bell was rung and Cory leaked out my ear to the floor. Frantically wanting Jesus to fill me up, I
sat in desperation grabbing my little green Bible as a road map for the
day. A spiritual frontal lobotomy
threatened as I became one with the Father and I his son. My mystical presence with Him hit the wall of
reality when I heard, “Airman!”
Boot camp is good for knocking the cobwebs
out of one’s head. Somehow the look of a
man straight into my eyes at a distance of eight inches, drove the fairy tale
Jesus out of me. Bouncing about the
bottom of realism, I awoke. God used the
United States Air Force to bring me back into orbit. No more tripping. The high was over.
When God gets ahold of you, please
remember He doesn’t want to erase your hard drive. Granted, He provides us a new operating
system but this He reprograms on the fly.
Current situations He uses as He works with you to renew your thinking
and responses. God is just that good.
Modernism is a break from the past. God doesn’t break the vessel. He has to work with something. The whole He will not smash and throw. Restoring an old car should be the picture
here. He works with the classic you to bring
back the shine again. He truly is a
redeemer who buys back the former and transforms to light.
Esoteric?
God’s workings are well known all over the world. Meet family in Australia or Canada, the
witness is the same. God works. God works wonders.
