The Incredible Seven
The Incredible Seven
Genesis 1
Moses wasn’t there so God told him what to
write. It is therefore the witness of
God declaring Himself. No man
present. Does this pose a problem? Probably to some.
The question which lies at the heart of this
account is this. Could God have
created according to the story?
And if He couldn’t, it remains just a story. A fictional telling like a tale spun around a
campfire and handed down generation to generation. Oh, still believing in the God of the Bible, yet He put the first chapter into metaphors so we could understand He was
behind creation. Like a bedtime story,
God in complexity simplifying the start of the world.
But here’s the problem. If I do that with something hard to believe
like the creation account, what stops me from dismissing others? Miracles?
Jesus didn’t do miracles. The Red
Sea crossing? Well, you know there’s a
scientific explanation for that one. The
list goes on.
God calls us to faith. But…But… I don’t see God working like that
today. Understand the Bible is a collection
of writings spanning over six thousand years of Mankind’s history. He still is the same God. His wonders are actively present, yet not
penned down in the holy canonized Word.
Miracles still happen. The dead are brought back to life. Healings are enacted through prayer. I understand witness is given on the front
lines. In other words, where our
faithful are persecuted to imprisonment or death. Desperation, holding on to the unfailing hand
of God, yields His involvement in such a way to overcome the senses. Where there is no other place to turn, He
rewards those who put their faith in Him.
What does it take for us to throw off the blinders
of pseudo-science? In evolution we have
no explanation. More questions emanate with
every discovery. Man conjures more theories
to explain through darkness a light he has seen. This religion offers no plausible explanation
of our origins. A soulless rendition of presumed
history concludes us in uselessness. We,
as animal beings, have no purpose but to satisfy our own temporal desires. This certainly is a dead language like Latin,
offering no change called hope.
God, in His origins, offers hope. He details our start. He notes our fall. He writes a biography of a Man sent to make
all things right. He lays Himself out in
full exposition for all men to behold and judge. What kind of imagined God does that?
If we made up this God of creation just to
pacify our wonderment, then where else would we suck our thumb? If anything challenged our intellect, we
would refrain from searching. It does
not stop with the Bible. Upon any
observation of nature, of unfounded understanding, we could draw up myths. But no, we seek to explain this world about
us.
Then why not apply our same mind to His
truth? When He gives us a big chunk to
chew upon, we can exercise our jaws taking time to mix in the saliva well. What we know breaks down the mystery to
pieces digestible. In faith, we swallow
thinking His food will benefit.
What if we cannot fully explain all occurrences
in the Biblical accountings? The world
says we wear pink glasses glossing over the realities of this world as we seek
the bliss of ignorance. They judge and
elevate themselves as the learned holding the truth in secret knowledge, independent
of Man’s fairy tales or mythical portrayals.
They find supposed contradictions warranting doubt and venerating their own
faith-based, scientific playing card tower.
Babel was once. They declare it again today. Gibberish still reigns in corners
with men chasing shadows of explanations to escape their fear of the Holy One
who will judge. He will judge them
wanting. Wanting of truth.
As a child, I put my faith in a literal
six-day creation. It makes sense to me the more I grow and mature. I continually
go back to these scriptures for clarification.
I regard them as truth in my foundation.
These blocks secure my understanding of reality here as they define my
worldview. He is faithful if I am to
take Him at His word. He rewards me as I diligently seek Him.
Please let us not throw out these beginnings
as a simple story. Under examination,
God explains Himself if we will listen.
