Afterward
Afterward
Acts 1:9 “And when he had spoken these
things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of
their sight.”
Matthew 24:48 “But and if that evil servant
shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;”
2 Peter 3:8 “But, beloved, be not
ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years,
and a thousand years as one day.9 The
Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all
should come to repentance.”
Well, according
to the Lord, we may be on day two. Given
a thousand years here or there, we wait for Him in expectation. Seems like a cruel game to play with His
Church. We look back in Man’s history to
see the changes and wonder if He is ever coming back. Afterward, He has left us, but not as
orphans.
We have in us the
Great Testimony. He has sealed us with
His Spirit. His presence is here. We feel Him.
He is truer to us today than yesterday.
We work in His patience.
Kingdom work
takes time. Noah’s generations were
perfect. In other words, from Adam to
Noah, they looked ahead to a savior. That
was about fifteen hundred years of waiting.
From Noah to Abraham, we see another five hundred years. From Abraham to Christ, Mankind waits another
nineteen hundred years.
So we have a
pattern of waiting on God. As if our God
does not pleasure in immediate gratification.
Like a well aged wine, He makes His
plans and works taking all things into account.
These plans are extremely complex.
The birthing of Israel's Messiah and the execution of our Christ fulfilled prophecy. He continues with us foreseeing Christ’s return. He impels us to wait on Him. We live afterward in the light of the
cross. He endeavors to work by the power
of His Spirit He has unleashed upon earth.
