Foolishness
Foolishness
Psalm 14:1 “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth
good.2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the
children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.3 They are all gone
aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no,
not one.”
Romans 3:9 “What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we
have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;10 As it is written, There
is none righteous, no, not one:11 There
is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.12 They are all gone
out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth
good, no, not one.”
Man, if left to his own, is a foolish
creature. In his base state, he does not
seek the things of God. Rather he longs to
satisfy his own temporal, fleshly desires not attaining to the righteous life that
God requires. Indeed, man stands at a
great need of a savior!
It is only God who has intervened in the
course of our events. Historically, He has
drawn His finger in the sand that man may follow in the furrow thereof. God intervenes showing His mercies to keep us
from destroying ourselves.
Who keeps the approaching car in its own
lane? A front-end collision means a 110
m/p/h summed impact. Physical laws teach
us that objects stay in place until acted upon.
What pandemonium would await if the parking lot suddenly came alive
after work! Where’d I park the car? Setting the cruise control would challenge if
centrifugal forces changed at every curve. And we'd wonder, "Will the brakes work this time?"
Driving would become an anxious event if constants did not surround
motion.
But the fool says there is no God. He is blinded, not taking into account
the great What If. We could play
this game all day long. What if…there
was no oxygen? What if…there were no
clouds. And so on. God, in His caring hand, holds this place together.
Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and
that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or
dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and
for him:17 And
he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
This verse leans more toward the
preeminence of Christ but pertains also to the creation accounting of God’s
order.
So what holds the electron in its
orbit? Even the moon follows its course
as we journey about the sun. If I strike
my hand with a hammer here or in China, it still hurts. Light holds its own control and does not violate
the speed limit. Why does fresh baked
bread smell the same? Water always feels
like water at the swimming pool. All I have met feel guilt to some degree.
Universal.
A term applied to a very many experiences. Same, the same. Our God does not freak us. Reality must be continuous and predictable
that our sanity sustains. Thus, we are fragile creatures at the mercy of an
all-powerful God who’s hand we cannot forcibly move. Anxiety would crush us if we pondered this too long. We cannot control God or the physical rules He has put us under.
We simply abide by and work with them to create, following in the steps
of our Creator.
The fool says in his heart there is no
God. So what does he say?
All observed order is a product of
chance. The impersonal multiplied by
time has given us this universe we call home.
A fool cannot fall back on his god because he has declared there is
none. Even the ancient Egyptians got it
half right. Their deities were responsible
for their lives around the Nile. At least
they acknowledged something bigger than themselves.
Are we to say modern day evolutionists are more ignorant than those
who once bowed to a rock image?
To declare intelligent design false is to
spit in the face of Michelangelo. All
great creations from all great minds with their talents fall to the floor when
we give them the frontal lobotomy treatment. God is greater. He has surrounded us with His testament. Will we believe Him when we open our eyes to
the wonderment of Creation?
