Intravenous
Intravenous
John 15:4 “Abide in me, and I in you. As
the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more
can ye, except ye abide in me.”
Perhaps the clearest picture we have of
being one is the hospital experience.
The nurse comes into your room.
She asks left or right arm. Choosing
a viable target area, she cleans with a swiping action. Stretched skin with a downward pressure
brings the needle into blood’s connection.
With a quick taping, the peripheral intravenous line or PIV, is permanently
attached. The IV begins its drip following clear tubing and enters your arm
under the scrutiny of your watchful eye. Whatever is in the bag, flows in. Faith is complete if you don’t resist.
We have been united with Christ. Our bloods share the same course. Unless He flows through us, we have no part
with Him. The picture of a vine and
branches is more than a metaphor. His
presence within us has mysteriously taken up all residence. Not only is He intertwined with our spirit,
but He sails upon our soul knowing its depth.
He feels our hurt and brings health through wisdom to our physical
bodies. He truly is one with us and our
faith does not resist.
Why is thus understanding important? Any lie suggesting God is far from us is
debunked. Any feeling contrary is to be
sunk to Hell. God Himself says this:
John 14:23 “Jesus answered and said unto
him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and
we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
As the trinity dwelt in Jesus at His
baptism, the three-in-one dwells in us also.
Mysterious beyond comprehension?
Yes. But we got the goods. We have our Father’s watchful eye. Jesus, we have welcomed into our
chamber. He is about the throne of our
heart counseling as we determine and execute our will. His Holy Spirit gives us the power in our extremities
to obey in concession.
We are one.
John 17:21 “That they all may be one; as
thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that
the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”
We run no risk of being cut off.
John 15:2 “Every branch in me that beareth
not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it,
that it may bring forth more fruit.”
Upon conversion, the first fruit we bear
is peace. His blood begins to flow
through us to push the fruit out in our vines.
We cannot help but produce what He desires. His Father is glorified as we begin the long
journey as “Little Christs.”
Intravenous. We have elected, by an act of our will, the
ingrafting of our being into the Whole.
And if we are in Christ, then we share in each other that same Spirit
which binds us together in Him. Not only
are we in Him, but we are in each other.
John 17:23 “I in them, and thou in me, that
they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast
sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”
Jesus becomes the common denominator,
linking us with the Father. He certainly
is our PIV line we have welcomed in faith.
