Off To The Races
Off To The Races
Genessis 1:27 “So God created man in
his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he
them.”
James 3:7 “For every kind of beasts, and
of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been
tamed of mankind:”
"Race is a social
construct used to group people. Race was constructed as a hierarchal
human-grouping system, generating racial classifications to identify,
distinguish and marginalize some groups across nations, regions and the world."
Why does this term get under my skin? Perhaps because I am known as white, not
Hispanic. Seems silly and very divisive. To think of oneself first into a racial
category, before the whole, can get a mind off track. “I’m African American. I’m native American. I’m Asian American. And so on.”
How about these six categories: Caucasoid,
Negroid, Mongoloid, Asiatic sub group, Pacific Island and Australian,
Amerindians, and Eskimos? Kinda takes
the flare off the label. To surrender
Asian American for Mongoloid takes some humility. On my tax form I could gladly check
Caucasoid. Whoo wee!
God created us all as Mankind. We are different than animals and He makes
that point. Furthermore, He does not
call us human.
Human:
of the nature of the human race; that is a human, or consists of human beings,
belonging to the species Homo sapiens or other (extinct) species of the genus
Homo.
This gets confusing. Man wants to categorize man, but he sees
blood ties back to the animal kingdom.
Somewhere in the mix I have become a European American of Anglo descent,
maybe known as a White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant or WASP. I am a Homo erectus bragging to be a Homo sapiens
proudly distancing myself from my grandfather ape.
What if I think of myself first as a man? It is there do I fit into Mankind. I see every man as my brother. I understand every woman to be my
sister. We all descended from a common
ancestor.
I prefer the term Mankind. We are all united under one God.
