The Golden Rule

The Golden Rule

Deuteronomy 6:Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

If you love God, you will love the things He loves.  It is clear here that God loves His word.  Jesus is known as the Word of God, so God loves Jesus.  The Golden Rule is this:  Love Jesus and esteem Him as the Father does.

What are we to do with our fellow man?  That goes without saying.  The man Jesus died to show us His incredible love for everyone.  It is stupid to flush this picture.  The cross stands as a testimonial act of love we choose to accept or deny.  In denial, we lie to say we didn’t kill God.  In acceptance, we say it was all our fault.  And clearly it was.  From Adam to John the Baptist, nothing had changed of the condition of Man.  Weathering the inborn sin, they fought to keep the ship on course.  Still failing before God to attain the glorious standard of His Son.  “For all have sinned and fallen short,” He said.

What of the golden rule?  Esteem Jesus.  If you do not, God will not recognize you.

There are many religions of this world.  All have their thoughts about the nature of Christ.  Some grapple with it, some dismiss it, and some twist it adding their own false teachings with His.  To say He was all God and all man is a stretch for those who want to duck accountability.  Once one admits He was God, then he has to take Him seriously.  Is He really Lord?  Well, the Egyptians found that out if you take their testimony.

Matthew 21:33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.

Is this necessary?  Such a long excerpt?  Do we have to read all of it?  Honoring the Son means you meet Him where He may be found.  God loves His Son.  He commands us to know Him.  Only in scriptures do we fully learn His mind and soul.  This is the Golden Rule.
