God's YoYo
God’s YoYo
Exodus 19:3a “And Moses went up unto
God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain,”
Exodus 19:8b “And
Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord.”
Matthew 14:19 “And he commanded the multitude
to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and
looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his
disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.”
I saw Mom cutting up the meat for her
girls. Too big of chunks and they could
choke. She ran to the oven to get
more. “Too hot!” she said warning little
hands. Oven mitts on, dino nuggets came
next. Complete with dippy dippy sauce.
They got smiles on their faces.
Jesus’ 5000 got happy and sat in the
grass. Bellies full they returned from
where they came. Success in sending the
multitude away? Perhaps a current
picture we see in the moment He took before sending out the twelve to distribute.
“He brake.” Or He broke up the bread. What He received from a little boy’s hand, He
separated into smaller bites. Jesus with
outstretched arms did this a lot. His
pattern of breaking signifies Him as the Wonder Bread authority.
Moses was a runner. Up and down the mountain, he was physically
fit for an eighty-year-old! God gave him
the goods and Moses was faithful to relay the message to a people who could not
touch the mountain. One would think it
more expedient if Moses passed out Bic pens and told them to take notes. But that was not God’s way. He trusted the prophet. Receive and disseminate. Moses had his charge which he executed
beautifully.
Aren’t we all prophets in a sense
today? Oh yah, not in “Thus saith the
Lord” with a current word. But we can quote
scripture aptly applied it to the situation at hand.
Proverbs 15:23 “A man hath joy by the answer of
his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!”
Thus, we hide the word in our heart. First that we don’t sin against the Lord, but
also to pull it up from the basement when situation warrants. “Look here what I found!” Outsiders wonder while the family gazes at
the familiar pictures. We must remind
them.
Bread from Heaven we receive whenever we
open our Bibles in spiritual understanding.
Such heavy chunks! Walking
through the Master’s teaching gets a little deep sometimes. Little ones of faith about us have
questions. To lay the sirloin upon them
when they need regurgitation is not beneficial.
Why speak in mysteries when they need simple words on their level?
So Jesus has tasked us to take the hard
stuff and explain as any good teacher would.
“Break bread.” A skill all of us
must learn.
Moses was a gopher. Go for this, go for that. “Yes, Sir”
He brought down what no other man could carry. He was the one called for that time. Have you been called for a specific time?
