When He Says We Aren't Good Enough

When He Says We Aren’t Good Enough

Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

     Whoa!  It’s a heavy thing to hear the Master of the universe say you’re not good enough.  Oh He loves you and lah dee dah, but you don’t cut the mustard.  In His presence you’d surely vaporize in the face of His holiness.  As fecal refuse scraped off the sidewalk of life, so we’d be dispensed to the offal collection bin.  He minces no words here.  A sea of maggots lapping on the shores of confinements.  He surely draws the line of demarcation.  The total depravity of Man rises up in stench to the nostrils of God.  Yet, He draws close.

     A full chem suit, hood covering and all.  Outstretched rubber gloves gingerly grasping the toxic vial portrays God in separation, maintaining His person while attending to the matter at hand.

Luke 5:12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

     And who was God’s suit?  Who got dirty?  Could God even touch the man?  Jesus said, “I will.  I will be Your gloves.  I will permit You to draw close.”  Our Heavenly Father’s heart was still in continuance.  From the beginning, He had not changed.  Fatigued in holding His outstretched arms to Man, Jesus resolved to relieve once for all.

     The great cross making a bead on the sin of man.  Through the scope of the Almighty, He sought to eradicate the cancer from all Mankind’s limbs.  A fifty caliber He toted the big gun and shot from the hip.  Taking full aim and pulled an Annie Oakley.  The dead man of sin was blown away back to the Garden.  Killing the zombie by blasting his head off, Jesus the marksman was awarded the only distinguishing medal suitable.

     A purple heart He pinned upon Himself.  All Heaven witnessed the coronation.  God, His father, gave Him a name above all names.  That was the real reward.

Proverbs 22:1A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

     So when Jesus pronounced you not good enough, rejoice!  He names it right.  He is not a man that He should lie.  So in need of a savior brought Him down from Heaven.  Our great magnetism drew Him close to our vile nature.  He resisted as being sucked to the pole until He could not stand the separation any longer.  At the cross, He left His God state and became one with corruption.  Our dead flesh leeched onto His back and fell Him down into the hole of the damned.

     Think it no small thing that Jesus eternal united with mortality to wheel the barrow of Man’s sin to the outhouse once forever.  He volunteered to take the plunge.  He knew the cesspool.  Casting off His white robe, His Father released His grasp allowing Jesus to go head under.  Filth had no standing in Heaven, so God turned away momentarily.  Then, in His counsel as determined by Himself, He stated it was not right for a righteous man to see corruption.  Calling to the grave, Jesus responded knowing He put His faith in the right place.

     Thank you, Lord Jesus.  What more can I say?
