The Baptism Of The Holy Ghost

The Baptism Of The Holy Ghost

Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Ephesians 4:One Lord, one faith, one baptism,One God and Father of all…”

Upon a recent reading of Ephesians, the work of the Spirit came to me.  In understanding His preliminary function, before teaching us and bringing us into all truth, He must lay the concrete floor.  The dirt work being done by the Son, an excavated hole pierced though hardened ground.  Violent hash marks of the digger’s claws slashing tree roots and scouring vertical bedrock walls.  Down deep came the Earthmover till what could not settle provided a solid base.  When the General Foreman proclaimed the Son’s work done, He sent another to resume construction.

Essential to the continuity of the structure, the floor’s consistency must match the walled blocks.  With a sudden rush out of the concrete truck’s trough, the floor is vehemently poured at once.  Rebar tied in truths gathered from scripture strengthen the whole in congruity even to the cornered edges. Once smoothed, the slab cures never to be struck again in destruction.  What the Lord has accomplished will not suffer brittle decay.

When head knowledge drops down to heart awareness, power is unleashed.

Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

Ephesians 3:6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

And how does God work this?  Baptism means to go full under.  Being fully convinced we are his children supersedes any understanding of scripture.  This is where God meets our spirit to acknowledge our need of acceptance.  Welcoming us into His family, He draws us into His house under the mantle of the Door.

I suggest that the baptism of the Holy Ghost occurs when we get it deep down that we belong to Him.  Something drove the Church to spread the gospel early on.  It wasn’t head knowledge of the scripture for few knew how to read and fewer manuscripts were available.  A oneness with God and His people held them in solidarity.  That is why God killed Ananias and Sapphira.  Their lying threatened cohesion.  God was busy pouring foundations, and He didn’t want any bugs in the mix.

The Holy Ghost has come to bind us to God.  In baptism our spirit is convinced.
