What Drugs Can't Do
What Drugs Can’t Do
John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which
is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all
things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto
you.”
John 20:8 “Then went in also that other
disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.”
I heard Led Zepplin had their encounter with
the near to far east. Something about their
new funky chord arrangements like the Beatles a generation back. Sitar and heroin go together when the British
funded the addiction like the U.S. in its troops before Normandy. “Luky Strikes!” Struck again.
Marijuana was on a mid-Western docket this
election day. I like what Governor Christi
Noem said, “I’ve never met anyone who got smarter by smoking dope.” ‘Bout sums it up.
Ephesians 5:18 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be
filled with the Spirit; 9 Speaking to
yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody
in your heart to the Lord;”
Ever peed your paints during a good belly
laugh? This is what God is talking
about. The Holy Spirit reaches deep
inside us, and we come under His influence. :) Laughter is a wonderful thing, and God proves we
don’t need a hemp fire to get there.
Acts 2:13 “Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.”
I get tipsy at
Texas Roadhouse when I order a tall one.
Not every time out, for I do have a reputation for speaking in tongues
in our congregation. I splurge occasionally
and my wife drives me home. That’s called
self-control and taking responsibility for my own actions.
Street drugs get to
the epithelial of our character. They drive a nail down to pierce calloused
feelings. Watching blood, it flows up uncontrollably. At the very first, we enjoy it. As if
cleansing a self-inflicted wound, the high transcends problems . When bandages won’t stop it, we freak. Everyone about us learns of our secret coping
mechanism. Drug dependency drives us to
ask for help. It’s a sick cycle and we who
are mentally challenged can testify.
I chose to
control my Bipolar Type 1 disease under doctor’s orders. In 1991, the Air Force used their claim that
they owned my body. And they did. When I
signed up, I became their responsibility. As an ambassador overseas, I took the
American name. Minding my P’s and Q’s
was critical if I wanted to stay out of Leavenworth.
Back to joy. I have experimented with drugs. Mostly doctor prescribed ones as we tried to
fine tune this disease. I can’t imagine
picking up a needle on the street then randomly shooting up. Pharm parties sound like hell to me. I know what it is like to be trapped inside my
mind waiting for the drug to wear off.
Who gives pure
happiness without the side effects? Well,
that’d be God.
James 3:14 “But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts,
glory not, and lie not against the truth.15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is
earthly, sensual, devilish.”
If we smoke weed and fight over a bowl,
well, that might be from underneath.
