What To Do With A Blessing
What To Do With A Blessing
Cars are an investment. They require initial purchase, maintenance,
and yearly monies to support insurance plus registration. We use them till the wheels fall off if not
traded in for the newest model. Sometimes
we see a carcass in the driveway waiting for a new home. Extended beyond our fiscal limits, their
existence makes no more sense. A quick
solution would be to call the salvage wrecker and receive a menial dollar
amount.
But wait, one man’s junk is another man’s
treasure. What we perceive as a headache
can bless another if we wait on God’s solution.
Not just a hand-me-down, the worth of the gift is commensurate to the
need. Networking opens our eyes and ears
to those lacking. Church is an excellent
place to get our attention off ourselves and into the affairs of others.
Pride takes no place when want is
overcome with gratitude and the giver holds no strings attached. When we expect nothing in return, the true
spirit of benevolence blesses the receiver.
For God so loved the world that He gave… Expecting nothing in return, His opened hand
from Heaven is simply an invitation.
What we do with the Christ is up to us.
When a present is given, the giver relinquishes control. If we repulse and throw His name around, the
gift is still available. Unlike a
vehicle we donate, the Word does not suffer wreckage at the hands of
irresponsible ones.
Christ does not rust. He is greater than our violence. We may swear shouting inexplicable things
to the sky. In a blur of confusion, we
throw up our mess wanting it never to land on our head again. Yet, God’s hand is still open. He does hear and, in His greatness, He
considers.
What to do with a blessing? God knew. It is more blessed to give than receive. Agreeing to walk it down, Jesus left Heaven. Becoming the greatest gift to Mankind, He left the unwrapping to us individually.
