Our Duty

Our Duty

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Writing this morning hopeful that He will provide the revelation of understanding since I lack.  How do I wash my wife with the Word that she may be sanctified and set apart?  I care for her.  I am her chief shepherd alongside the Lord.  How can I?

     Lord, please show me how.

Back in the Garden, there was a special relationship man to his wife.  Created from him and for him, she basked in his glory.  In fact, she radiated his relationship with the Lord.  She was the proof bearing witness of his affections.  Man with his Lord, man with his wife.  They were one.

Today enters the same.  Woman stands as the trophy of years invested.  Polished and set high upon the shelf, her testimony outweighs any words describing the former years.  Hence, she is from him and for him.  Looking at the floor, man has a tendency to forget the goodness in times past.  I have given woman a mind remembering details.  She remembers and categorizes within her soul.  Attaching feelings with instances, her memories are recorded accurately.

So how is the man to wash her?  Like changing the oil in a car.  Her feeling-based memory becomes cloudy over time as it is cycled.  Although never suffering breakdown, the oil holds, yet a filter is needed.  Man is to listen.  He is to cleanse.  Upon doing this, he frees her for more good miles down the road.  Listen to your wife.  In doing this, you purify her.
