Salient Savior

Salient Savior

Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Who are we messing with here?  Whose name do we kick around on a Sunday morning?  “In Your name we pray…”  Really?  Jesus this, Jesus that.  Our little Jesus we have in a box.  Let it burn our lips even to pronounce the Name!  And yet His mercy flows forth from His throne like water extinguishing what wrath could threaten.

Revelation 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

Exodus 20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

Our little Jesus throws a voice that curdles our blood and raises the hair on the back of our necks.

My little ones knew my tone given.  If they be in trouble, they knew it before they saw my face.  Let fear abound that we not sin against Thee.  We must know consequences.  We must know the weight You give to incongruities of our characters.  An upward calling You give to holiness since You are holy.

Exodus 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Nagasaki left her occupants vaporized at ground zero.  The feared nuclear emblem on the wall denotes a “safe place.”  But it stands to remind us of a power threatening to be unleashed.  That which we cannot control.  No matter our political slant, global thermal nuclear warfare is a fear surpassing a democratic vote.

Now, can you imagine something more terrifying?  The One who maintains the cosmos in order holds the sun, our sun, in the palm of His hand.  Violent surging with flares knocking out our communications even from a great distant.  Thus, we are reminded our friendly star worthy of Egyptian worship can envelope and consume.

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  23 [g]gentleness, self-control.”

Praise God!  For the same standard He calls all men to, He governs Himself by.  God gets ticked sometimes.  It is recorded.  He put up with wayward Israel so bent on seeking his own and spitting in the face of the Almighty.  What parent puts up with that?

Exodus 32:10 Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may [c]consume them. And I will make of you a great nation.”

This is the same God with full control of His hand.  God is not a knee-jerk god given to impulse as sinful man.  Yet, His blood boils in the presence of sin.  His veins bulge.  He looks away but a brandished hand He does not swing in anger.

Salient Savior.  The most Important One deserving utmost respect to the point of Godly fear.  Certainly, in His mercy He has come and fellowshipped with us.  Drawing so near to don flesh.  He worked the magic.  Sustaining raging holiness to hold our stained hand.  Wow God!
